Hakuouki. The end of the Edo period, the third year of Bunkyu. The protagonist, Yukimura Chizuru, is the daughter of a doctor of Western medicine who grew up in Edo. Her father, Tsunamichi, was supposed to be working in Kyoto, away from his daughter. Worried about her father who could no longer be contacted, Chizuru visits Kyoto. There, she sees Shinsengumi members slaying bloodthirsty monsters. Chizuru is connected to the Shinsengumi by a strange fate. While searching for her missing father, mysterious assassins appear before the protagonist. The secret of the Shinsengumi is soon revealed - the existence of Rakshas.
