James Patterson Women's Murder Club: Crime and Splendour on DS is an interactive book-like investigative game with mini-games and object finding. A series of seemingly unrelated deaths are taking place in San Francisco. Some look like suicide or robbery, but something doesn't add up. Players are part of the Women's Murder Club and take on the role of Lindsay, Cindy or Claire using their respective skills for the task at hand. Lindsay, the police officer, investigates the crime scene, first by clearing up the "mess" and then by looking for clues as indicated, such as items that may have belonged to the victim or the murder weapons. Claire, the medical examiner, finds out the cause of death and anything that can be deduced from the body. There are no penalties for choosing the wrong object and there is no time limit.
